Jussi Alonen Returns

 Jussi Alonen Returns

Havana, Cuba

Hello Again from Rauma!

I was just thinking how long its been since my last blog...and the last two months have really flown by!

It felt like a long winter this year but at least for much of it we had snow in Finland. Now the spring has started, the ice is melting and the sun has started to appear. You can see my usual forest walk starting to clear in the photo below.

We are lucky in Finland to have plenty of places to go outside and plenty of different activities to do when we are there, so I have been getting in some cross-country skiing practice this time. Another habit I have in the darker days of winter is to write...which brings me to the subject of today's blog. Over the last six months I have updated both of my previous books, a task which has involved adding some new content and re-editing. I have also been busy writing the third book in the Jussi Alonen Series, which means that the series will now be a trilogy, hence the title of this blog being:

Jussi Alonen Returns

Are you wondering about the photograph of a street in Havana and asking the question:

What does Rauma have in common with Havana?

Well, for those of you that remember our female character, Heli, from my first book The Paintings of Rauma and her brief appearance (at least from a distance) in The Waves of Helsinki, Heli moved to Cuba to escape the authorities who were tracking her as an international fugitive. She settled there but still yearned for contact with Jussi.

Well, in Jussi's forthcoming thrilling new adventure, he and Heli are brought together once again, in unusual circumstances. Part of the book is set in the attractive city of Rauma and part of it in Havana. Psst. I couldn't resist adding the photo of Rauma below, which was from the Lumen light exhibition in January)

The story involves international crime once again and Jussi has a new nemesis who is just as deadly as his previous ones, if not more! Actually, this story has more twists and turns than ever before and more action as well! It was also nice to bring the unique flavour of Cuba into the book. It will be no surprise that cigars, mojito and rumba make regular appearances too. There may even be a car chase! One thing is for sure, Jussi's career in the Finnish police force is more eventful than ever before!

My next blog will outline the description of the new book and there may even be a video but for now, I will just mention the working title of the new novel, which will be:

"The Heat of Havana"

Watch out for it on Amazon in May 2021

(available in paperback, kindle and on kindle unlimited)

Stay safe and enjoy the spring!

Best wishes
