 Helsinki Chills

Hi Everyone,

Nice photo, isn't it? Not mine or my book cover but selected to fit the mood of my forthcoming novel.

As summer approaches in Finland (it stops and starts as usual), most people's thoughts are far away from winter...but not mine.

Why? Well, my new book, working title: Helsinki Chills, is deep in its final development phase. Actually, it's almost complete, but there are still a couple of plot twists to be added and final editing to be completed.

The novel is set in Helsinki, Finland, in the depths of winter and is much closer in style to the classic Nordic Noir genre than my other books. A new hero, Detective Superintendent Topias Torikka, arises, and here is the synopsis (or blurb) of what happens:

When a frozen corpse is discovered in the midst of winter, Helsinki Detective Inspector Topias Torikka is brought in to investigate.

The dead man is the husband of a beautiful and beguiling young woman whom Torikka suspects knows more than she reveals. However, she soon also finds herself in peril, and as the case progresses, so the body count increases too.

Intriguing connections arise, and multiple motives appear, including the usual suspects: money, love and betrayal.

Can Torikka identify and bring the perpetrator to justice before someone else dies?

The crime thriller 'Helsinki Chills' takes the reader to Finland's darkest and coldest places for another taste of Nordic Noir.

Due to final preparation, book cover design, and other matters, combined with the fact that it's nowhere near winter right now, I plan to launch the book in September 2022. As my fifth book, it will be added to my webshop here and on Amazon worldwide, launching in paperback, hardcover and E-book, with availability on Kindle Unlimited.

I have enjoyed writing this book, and subject to feedback; it may blossom into a new series - let's see. More news on here in the summer as the launch arrangements gather pace.

Have a lovely summer, or as the Finns say: Hyvää Kesää!

I hope you enjoy whatever you're reading,

John
